Gaza Under Siege: JUST: Sue Israel for genocide
KUALA LUMPUR: The International Movement for a Just World (JUST) wants Israel to be sued for genocide before the International Court of Justice (ICoJ) in The Hague. President Dr Chandra Muzaffar said the special Parliament session tomorrow should call world leaders to institute joint legal proceedings against Israel for its violation of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
"The vast majority of the governments and people of the world would agree that Israel has committed a crime of genocide against the Palestinians. The Gaza carnage is the latest episode in this ongoing annihilation of an entire community that began in 1948." Chandra said local and international lawyers would be more than willing to advise and assist the Malaysian government in commencing proceedings against Israel in ICJ.
Chandra said the most outstanding of them was the internationally-renowned academic-cum-lawyer Professor Francis Boyle of the United States, who has been an unwavering advocate of a suit against Israel for genocide against the Palestinians for a few years now.
"It was Boyle who filed the first lawsuit on genocide with the ICJ on behalf of Bosnia against Yugoslavia in 1993. "He won two court orders demanding Yugoslavia cease and desisted from committing genocide against the Bosnians."Boyle, who is a member of Just's International Advisory Panel, had said Malaysia should consider suing Israel to save the Palestinians.
